Wyatt came into the studio for his One Year session and wasn't so sure about me and my camera, but as always I won and got so sweet smiles out of him! He looked adorable in his vintage style UK shirt, Go Big Blue!!
Hudson turned one recently and we got together at a friends farm to take some photos of him and his cuteness!! He took a few minutes to warm up to me but once he did was all smiles!!! I loved that our friend let us borrow their awesome vintage Chevy Truck to use for our shoot. It was the perfect setting for a little country boy! Enjoy!!
When bad things turn into awesomeness!!!
A few weeks ago I was photographing at The Big Latch On event in Lexington. I met Sullivan's mom Lindsey, she was so sweet and I took just a few photos of her and sweet Sullivan as they nursed. Well the worst thing a photographer can experience happened: I somehow lost those photos. I reached out to all the moms whose photos were lost offering a free Milk Baby Mini Session. Surprisingly Lindsey was the only one who took me up on my offer. So we scheduled our session for Monday August 17, which happened to be Sullivan's 1st birthday!!!
Lindsey told me that she wasn't sure how much longer Sullivan was going to nurse and she was so excited to have these photos taken to commemorate their nursing journey. I imagine Lindsey will look at Sullivan today and see how big she has gotten in this last year. But in 10 years Lindsey will look at these photos and remember how tiny she was, how she fit so perfectly in her lap, how she would fall asleep in her arms after nursing in the morning. I so wish I had taken photos like these with my kiddos! Nursing in challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and full of love and I hope that Lindsey will look back and feel powerful for what she was able to do with her sweet girl. They have created a special bond that will never be broken!!
Thank you Lindsey for taking me up on my offer and welcoming me into your home! I loved every moment.
Ahhhh.. I got to see sweet Max again! I got the privilege of photographing his birth a year ago and this time he came in to the studio for his one year photos. How does time do by so fast? He is such a cutie with the sweetest little smile. I am so lucky that I get to follow my clients as they grow.
I love planning these smash cake sessions with mommas; it brings be mack to when my kiddos were turning one. When momma told me she wanted a Dr Seuss themes smash cake I was so excited. Its the perfect set up for a little boy, blue, reds, stripes, and polka dots!!! Im pretty sure that Max loved his cake as much as I loved photographing it!!!!
Smash cake sessions are the most fun sessions!!!! I love watching little ones destroy and/or cry at, their cake. We laugh the while time! one year olds are just fun! Sydney was no exception She was so silly and happy! She brought along her Mickey Mouse because, well, he needed to be in photos as well. She also brought mommy's wedding dress, those were some of the sweetest photos. I know shell look back those and cherish them.
Mom wanted to coordinate her smash cake session to match her 1st Birthday party, so we had a Lemonade Stand themed smash cake. I love the bright yellow and pink. Mom had the cutest accessories and Sydney got to play with lemons before we brought out the cake. She loved it but in true girly form, barely ate any and didn't get to messy.
I think smash cake session have become my new favorite!!! Talk about fun. Lets have cake, watch a kid smash it to pieces, and then eat whats left over. Who wouldn't love that. Blaine sure did!! The moment I set that cake down in front of him he was all over it. Smashing and eating and playing: all boy!! Mom and I laughed the whole time. Not to mention it was the fist time in his whole session that he sat still for more than mere moments. Thanks Blaine for bringing laughter into the studio!!!
