Sweet Emma turned 3 recently so we celebrated by dancing in the woods and having a tea party! We also got a few of the cutest family photos ever!I Enjoy!!
I think Cooper wins as one of the best sleepers I've had recently!! He seriously slept for the whole session. And that is what every newborn photographer wants! I loved that Mom came into our session with so many prop ideas: baseball, buckets, and a handmade crochet blanket to name a few. And did I mention how smily he was!!! Enjoy!!
Sweet little Ellie was so excited for her newborn session that she decided she needed to stay awake for the majority of it. So we shot a lot of family and lifestyle shots at her house and then she got to come to the SCP Studio for the second half of her session. I guess she really wanted to see me again and come visit my house because she was such a rock star in the studio. She has the cutest red hair and looks amazing in blue!! Enjoy!
When bad things turn into awesomeness!!!
A few weeks ago I was photographing at The Big Latch On event in Lexington. I met Sullivan's mom Lindsey, she was so sweet and I took just a few photos of her and sweet Sullivan as they nursed. Well the worst thing a photographer can experience happened: I somehow lost those photos. I reached out to all the moms whose photos were lost offering a free Milk Baby Mini Session. Surprisingly Lindsey was the only one who took me up on my offer. So we scheduled our session for Monday August 17, which happened to be Sullivan's 1st birthday!!!
Lindsey told me that she wasn't sure how much longer Sullivan was going to nurse and she was so excited to have these photos taken to commemorate their nursing journey. I imagine Lindsey will look at Sullivan today and see how big she has gotten in this last year. But in 10 years Lindsey will look at these photos and remember how tiny she was, how she fit so perfectly in her lap, how she would fall asleep in her arms after nursing in the morning. I so wish I had taken photos like these with my kiddos! Nursing in challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and full of love and I hope that Lindsey will look back and feel powerful for what she was able to do with her sweet girl. They have created a special bond that will never be broken!!
Thank you Lindsey for taking me up on my offer and welcoming me into your home! I loved every moment.
Callen's newborn session was a dream! He slept the whole time and we were able to get do many great photos of him. We included so many of mommy and daddy's favorite items including Dr Seuss books, UK gear, the family dog, and a very special box. I had so much fun with this family and can't wait to photograph them again!!
Kerri and I go way back (middle school to be exact) and we have worked together at our church for the last few years. I was so thrilled when she and her husband found out they were pregnant. I also loved that they weren't finding out the gender until baby was born. Isn't that the last great surprise in life? So when I was planning their session I knew we would go rather neutral to coordinate with her gender neutral nursery. When I got to their house I was introduced to the sweetest little girl, Noemi. She has the greatest head full of hair. I loved every second of this session. Especially shooting in her nursery which was adorable. Its gonna be a great space for a little girl to grow up in!!
I've known Gabe's parents since high school and was so happy to get to photograph their brand new little guy! Gabe was so sweet and slept nearly his entire session. He had the most adorable blond hair. I loved photographing in his Vintage Airplane themed nursery. Momma has great style Gabe!!!
I love newborn photography!! I love lifestyle newborn photography!! I love going into people homes and watching them as they learn how to be parents. Watching as they sooth, feed, and comfort their new little person is just so magical. Thats why most of my newborn sessions are a combination of posed and lifestyle shots.
Norah's session was such a perfect newborn session. She slept like a champ for her posed shots (what every newborn photographer prays for) and was so calm and cozy when it came time to pose with mom and dad. Jessica and Sam (now known as mom and dad) have the most adorable little house with an amazing backyard. Of course we had to take photos out back with their custom patio and that Sam and Jessica's dad built. Such a special place for little Norah to grow up.
Thank you so much Jessica, Sam and Norah for inviting me into your home to capture those memories for you.
